"Gracious Father, we pray for thy holy catholic church. Fill it with all truth, in all truth with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where in any thing it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in any want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it, for the sake of Jesus Christ thy Son our Saviour. Amen."  ~  The Book of Common Prayer

Special events, achievements and blessings

May 13, 2007 ~ Mother's Day Outreach to the Skilled Nursing Home

Following an annual tradition in our outreach program --- in combination with the celebration of St. John's 116th anniversary --- we had the pleasure of sharing small gifts and a large cake with the residents of the Fallbrook Hospital's Skilled Nursing Facility.

Patiently waiting for the shutter to click while thinking how good the cake is going to taste!

Special Lenten Events
at St. John's 2007

Lent 2007 was a wonderful time of fellowship and reflection with our Lenten Soup Suppers. Each supper was followed by one of a series of teachings on the Anglican Communion by our priest, The Reverend Canon Wayne Sanders.

All this was preceded by our extra special Ash Wednesday service, which we had the honor of Bishop Mathes to conduct. This service, which marked the first day of Lent, also represented Saint John’s Episcopal Church’s return to the Fallbrook community.

On November 18th, 2006 St. John's honored our new priest Fr. Wayne and his wife Kathy with a sherry tea, both to say "Thanks!" and to celebrate Fr. Wayne's recent appointment as Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of San Diego. Among the dozens of attendees were clergy and members of sister parishes from the San Diego diocese. Dale New, our senior warden, presented Fr. Wayne and Kathy with gifts, and took a moment to thank the ladies who worked so hard to provide the outstanding food and beverages!
. On October 8th, 2006 members of St. John's attended the installation of Father Sanders as the Diocesan Ecumenical Officer. His new title is The Rev. Canon Wayne F. Sanders, Ecumenical Officer for the Diocese of San Diego and Rector, St. John's Parish (Episcopal), Fallbrook, CA. Even with all of these accolades, however, he prefers to be called “Father Wayne.” The installation service was conducted by the Rt. Rev. James R. Mathes, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. All the parishioners of St. John's are very proud of him!
On September 10th, 2006 at our regular 9:30 service, four future Episcopalians were baptized by Father Wayne. Two children were from Good Samaritan Episcopal Church in University City, where Father Wayne served for over thirty years: Taylor Anne Rohrbach, the daughter of Ed and Kelly Rohrbach, and Cody Flyn Rohrbach, daughter of Chris and Marylou Rohrbach. Ed and Chris are Navy Seals. Two other children were also baptized: Makaila and Victoria Rindfleisch. Their parents are Benjamin and Michelle Rindfleisch. Benjamin is to report for active duty in the Marine Corps soon.
